The goal of Dassel-Cokato Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) classes is to support and strengthen families through connection, education, and resources. Parents are a child's first and most important teachers and we consider it a privilege to partner with families to provide the best possible environment for the healthy growth and development of the children in their care.
Our family activities are purposefully designed in the areas of social and emotional development, language and literacy development, cognitive development, and physical development.
In ECFE classes parents/caregivers and children enjoy playtime, learning experiences, songs, parent discussion and more! These classes are a time for your child to explore with different sensory opportunities, make a mess, and grow!
Types of Classes:
Non-Separating Classes: Parents/caregivers and children remain in the early childhood classroom the entire class time. Parent discussion takes place in the room while the children play.
Separating Classes: During parent discussion parents move to a nearby room with the parent educator while the children remain in the classroom with the early childhood teacher and paraprofessional. Children under 1 will stay with their parent during separation time.
Parent Discussion Only Classes: Parent/caregivers will engage in discussion facilitated by our parenting educator while the children explore and discover in the classroom with the paraprofessional and their friends.
ECFE classes consist of:
Parent & Child Time: During the first half of class parents/caregivers and children explore and play with activities that are intentionally designed to foster your child's social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and language development.
Circle Time: Everyone joins together to enjoy music, movement activities, and stories.
Parent Discussion Time: Our parenting educator leads discussions on the many joys and challenges of parenting. Discussions are centered around child development and parent selected topics.
Child Time: While the parent/caregivers are in discussion time, children enjoy snack and activities with their peers and licensed early childhood teacher and/or paraprofessional.
Sibling Care: Childcare is available during classes where indicated for the class participant's sibling only. Care is provided by the sibling care provided for an additional fee. Register for sibling care when registering for the ECFE class.
