Cheer Team: Summer Program, Gr. 6-11
#: 5523    ID:    Section:
Description:

The D-C Cheer Team is a sideline and competitive cheerleading program. During the fall season the cheerleaders are on the sideline cheering for the football team and then during the winter season they travel to compete against other competitive cheer teams throughout the state. The entire cheer season runs from June through early February. These summer practices are an essential component of the full cheer program, however, additional registration for the fall and winter seasons (September-February) happen in August & October through the Activities department. This summer program focuses on learning the cheers and dances for the upcoming sideline and competitive seasons as well as building a team atmosphere, working on skill building, and body conditioning for the rest of the seasons.

In addition to the summer practices held at Dassel-Cokato, cheerleaders are required to attend the home Cheer Camp presented by a clinician from Varsity. Camp costs are being covered by the Cheerleading Booster Club. Parents are highly encouraged to join the D-C Cheerleading Booster Club which provides additional support to the cheer program while helping to bring cheer costs down for families through fundraising opportunities. More information on the booster club will be at the Parent Info. Night on June 18.

The D-C Cheer Team will also show their spirit at the local parades this summer and take to the parade routes with the youth and middle school junior leaders performing some cheers and stunts! Specific parade information regarding parade staging times and locations for each Parade day will be distributed prior to each event.

If you missed the team placement practices in February, and are still interested in joining the D-C Cheer Team, please email Coach Stephine at stephine.paech@dc.k12.mn.us or Assistant Coach Lexi at alexandra.wuetrich@dc.k12.mn.us before signing up.

Mandatory Parent & Cheerleader Info. Night: (All new and returning cheer members and parents must attend!)
The required Cheer Info Night provides a chance to learn more about the D-C Cheer Team, summer schedule, fundraising opportunities, and the booster club as well as an opportunity to meet other cheer parents. Fun activities and team bonding time is also planned to help get to know each other better.
