Current 2023-2024 School Year: Gr. 3-6
Instructor: Josh Pommier
This class will focus on developing skills through fun activities and age-appropriate instruction with golf fundamentals and etiquette as the focus. The first hour of sessions 1-3 will be spent solely on skill instruction. The fundamentals of grip, posture, aim and covering all parts of golf including putting, chipping and full swing will be taught at stations at the putting green, tee box, sand trap, and driving range. Afterwards players will get a chance to play different holes throughout the course. During the final session of golf, players will take to the course the entire time and participate in drills, contests and exciting challenges. While this course is for all skill levels, a basic understanding of the game of golf is helpful. The program’s goal is to get young golfers excited about learning and participating in the sport while building their self-confidence and golf skills. Cokato Town and Country Club members may register at a reduced rate.
Players need to bring their own equipment consisting of golf balls, tees and at least a driver, putter and three irons. Wear comfortable clothes, athletic, closed toed shoes, and dress for the weather. Class will NOT be held during inclement weather and will not be made up.
Additional parent volunteer coaches are needed to help lead instruction sessions. If you have a golf background and are willing to share your talents, please consider coaching. Contact Community Education at 320-286-4120. Coaches must complete free concussion training prior to the start.
