Description:
Recommended for individuals and families ages 10-Adult.
Instructors: Wright County Soil and Water Resource Specialist, Meeker County Aquatic Invasive Species Coordinator and volunteers.
Learn about life in the lake at Collinwood Park through fun and engaging activity stations. See, smell, and feel different local plant and animal species, both invasive and non-invasive, and learn how to identify them. Learn how colors change in a water chemistry kit and a simple water clarity test can tell us about the composition and health of the water and how this can affect a lake's ecosystem. Gather samples to explore up close under a microscope. Learn from a professional about how specialized equipment is used and how that helps them learn more about our lakes and what we can do to help keep them healthy.
While this class is recommended for ages 10 and up, children younger than age 10 can sign up with their families. Children under 14 must be accompanied by a registered adult. This event is offered in partnership with Dassel-Cokato Sustainable Living.
